Hi everyone,
Today we had a good 40nm passage from Kura on Pantar Island to Point Sirumerang on Kawula Island. The passage started with about 8 hours motor-sailing against up to 2knots of current. Then a nice NE wind came in and we had several hours of great sailing. We sailed in company with Recluse, and Imagine and Destiny were also nearby.

Both Kura and Point Sirumerang are close to volcanoes. At Kura the volcano was smoking and we occasionally got strong sulphurous smells. Here at Point Sirumerang the volcano Mount Wariran looks like the archetypical volcano, and is also smoking.

There are about a dozen yachts here at the anchorage. We are anchored at 08 14.74S 123 36.31E, in 10m of water over sand. The bottom shelves steeply from drying reef 100m ahead to 150m+ depths 100m behind.
We plan to stay here tomorrow to do some snorkelling, probably from our dinghy which we'll anchor in shallower water. It will be great to have a swim, and hopefully the reef will be interesting. Visibility is great - I watched the anchor go down and settle on the bottom very clearly in 10m of water.
